About Amanda

Hello! My name is Amanda, and I'm very interested in working with the elderly. My grandparents raised me so I grew up always giving them a hand with whatever they needed. From the ages 13-17 I volunteered at Blue Ridge nursing home during holidays and big events to help out and make the holidays extra special for the elderly. And currently I work with a lovely 86-year-old woman full time. I love what I do, I love working with people on a personal level and getting to know them. When I take care of a child or elderly person they become family to me, how can they not? Since I grew up with my own grandparents I am very into the old time shows (I love Lucy- the munsters- patty duke- little house on the prairie- I dream of Jeanie) and if your mother or father likes those shows I will enjoy them just as much as they do. I am not attached to my phone- and have no intention of being on it while working with your family member. They deserve my full attention and I plan on giving them just that.

Mandie worked for us for about 3 months. She did take good care of my mother during that time and kept me up dated through the day by texting and photographs. My mother enjoyed her friendly spirit and upbeat attitude. On occasion she would bring her child and that was also enjoyable for my mom to be around her baby. She did a great job in preparing breakfast and snacks through the day. However she quit without notice, even after promising she would not. This was difficult because my mother had grown attached to her and Mandie didn't even say good bye and explain to my mom that she had moved to far away to continue working for us. My mom could not be left alone so I had to take a week off to try to find another caregiver and then put in 16 hours days the following week to make up for the hours I missed the week before. Mandie knew my work situation and she did not try to work something out with us instead she just quitting. My mother's physical therapist found out before we did.
