About Amanda

Children are my passion. My dream is to teach elementary education so I can help and inspire children through learning. I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old and I love it. To see children grow and develop is very inspiring to me. I am experience with newborns through school age children. Most of my experience has been babysitting for families with two or more children. I currently work for a wonderful family and I have taken care of one of their children since he was born. He is now a year and a half. I enjoy all aspects of childcare especially giving the children new adventures like playing at the park or going to the library and also sharing new experiences through reading and art projects. Routine is extremely important to most children but I find an occasional outing can excite and expand a child's day. The key to a good working relationship with parents is to have an open dialogue and understanding the household rules so the children feel safe and confident in who is caring for them. It is my responsibility to help foster those relationships. Babysitting is not the only experience I have with children. I was also a volunteer at an elementary school arts and crafts program for five years. I was a camp counselor for three years and I was a CCD teacher for one year. I am currently enrolled in a teacher preparation program in college and I have worked in both a 5th and 3rd grade classroom so far.
