I have over five years experience working with children who have Down Syndrome at various age, and from higher to lower functioning children. I have one year paid experience as a Personal Support Worker (through Multnomah County, however I can be transferred between counties). My experience is mostly with children who have DS. I work with them on writing their names, sorting, and other sensory fun. We also love to explore outdoors! Two of the children I work with are non-verbal, therefore I know some baby sign language, and can pick up on their cues. I believe that it is very important that children feel safe and loved for who they are, regardless; when a child feels loved, they can better accomplish their goals and grow into the individual they are meant to be. I also believe that children are all unique-no two children are identical in what the know and what they can do.
