At the age of 10, my youngest sister was born, so from an early age I was taught how to feed, clothe, and change diapers for infants. As my youngest sister developed and grew in age, I learned the stages on development every child goes through (walking, learning words and sounds, and attending grade school). I have also helped friends babysit their nieces, nephews, children as well as having offers in the summer to babysit children for working parents. As far as spending time with the children, I give my full attention to the children and actively be involved in any activity they are involved in. For example, if you're child is playing a board game with their sibling, I do not just watch them play, I am playing with them. I feel giving a child someone older to play with, gives the child someone to look up to, such as a role model. I also believe that part of being a sitter, your job requires you to be a good role model. I make sure I have emergency contacts on my personal phone.
