About Alyssa

I'd describe my personality as bubbly, engaging, and calming. I like working with kids because they remind me to slow down and focus on things that really matter in life, such as enjoying the flowers in bloom, or savoring a meal. I started working with kids when I started working at Portland Public Schools in 2020. I have been nannying for a family weekly with a 3-year-old and a 1. 5-year-old for the past year. I have also worked as a kindy and grade school teacher overseas. One thing you should know about me is that I try really hard not to lean on screens if I don't have to. I respect however families choose to integrate them into their homes but I tend to prefer sensory play or things that will help develop fine motor skills and/or outdoor play time. Meal time tends to be the exception as iPads can really motivate small children to stay seated and finish a meal. But aside from that I bring my kindergarten teacher brain to my nanny jobs and love to get creative!
