I interviewed Alondra a few weeks ago, and we set a date for her to start working for me this week. On Sunday, I began reaching reaching out to her to re-confirm the date. After two texts and an email thru care.com, Alondra finally got back to me on Tuesday to say that her baby was sick, that she had lost my #, and that she could no longer take the job. This is TWO days before the job was supposed to begin. I question the truth to her story, but regardless of the reason, I understand that things come and situations may change, however a courtesy call or email would have sufficed with sufficient time for me to find someone else. I am now stuck scrambling to find a new caregiver just days before school starts. I would recommend a thorough reference check and interview process before considering her for employment.
