I have worked for 2 families whose children have special needs and a bachelor's degree in social work from SFSU. One family has a son on the autism spectrum. I was his babysitter/nanny while he was 6-11 years old. I brought him to his therapy appointments, learned how to work with his particular needs so that he could successfully achieve his goals and thrive. The other family has twin girls with cerebral palsy. I was their after-school aide while they were 16-17 years old. I provided homework help, transportation with the family's wheelchair-accessible minivan, meal prep, being there with them for occupational therapy appointments, working on social skills, light personal care and occasional wheelchair transfers.
