When I was 15, my grandpa was sick, and he moved in with us to take care of him. In my late teens, my mom was diagnosed with an auto immune disease, and I have also taken on the role as her caregiver at times when she is sick or has major surgeries. I am very involved in her medical care. She lives with me. I became an STNA at a nursing home when I was 22 and am now 41. I have always had a desire to help people and am very empathetic.
