Alexis was great at first. She was always on time when she showed up and our daughter loved her. However, she became extremely unreliable after only two weeks. The first time, she had some serious dental health issues which led her to be in the ER in the early morning hours. Understable. Two days later, same excuse. We still believed this to be true, it was more so the excuses that followed that we have our doubts with. After the last ER visit, there was about a week and a half that my husband had vacation, as well as a vacation she had pre-planned prior to being hired. When she was to return, her flights got delayed. This is where we started having our doubts. She was supposed to have flown in the night before, but we were only notified of her delays at 12:20 am after she landed from the delayed flight. The excuse was that she had been flying since 5pm our time the night before from one island of Hawaii to another and didn't have good signal or she would have texted sooner. I have big doubts that it took 7 hours for that flight and not once did she have enough signal to text while at the airport. Through her own admittance, she did not even attempt to. The very next day she called out again saying that she was sick and throwing up. This was a Friday. The following Tuesday she texted that her car was not starting and she was trying a few things to get it going. I asked her to keep me updated and she agreed she would. I texted 20 minutes later, no response. Texted again 10 minutes after that, nothing. Called her twice, texted again, called a 3rd time all in the following ten minutes with no response from her. That afternoon I let her know we were no longer employing her and I'd need my carseat back by the following afternoon. Asked her to let me know if she'd be bringing it that day or the next. No response. The following morning I texted again and asked that she stopped ignoring me and if I didn't hear from her by the afternoon I would have to assume that I wasn't going to hear from her at all. I let her know if that was the case, I would be filing a theft charge with the police for my carseat. I got a response within 10 minutes. She claimed while trying to fix her car that her phone completely shut off and refused to turn back on and she just so happened to just get her fixed phone back. She said she didn't have my number otherwise and couldn't reach out or she would have. I gave her my number through Care messages, so she could have easily found my number and called. She brought my carseat to me that day and that was our last contact. Each incident seems excusable individually, but to have all of these things happen in such a short amount of time feels extremely unlikely. I don't believe she actually has this level of bad luck. We hired her to help as I started a new job. Her unreliability put my job (and income) in jeopardy and I truly did not appreciate it.
