For the past five summers I have worked as a staff member at an adaptive theater camp through the City of Edina's Park and Recreation Department. In this position, I assisted and led a small group of teenagers/young adults with many different diagnoses. I have also worked as a counselor at the Autism Society of Minnesota's summer camps for the past two summers. Each week of camp I worked with a different camper individually, and assisted them with activities as well as daily living tasks. I am extremely passionate about working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental delays, and hope to work with this population as a music therapist once I graduate. I have learned so much from the children I have worked with in the past, and I they have made me view the world differently. I have gained patience and understanding, and I find working with children with special needs so gratifying and rewarding.
