I spent a year caring for a physically disabled adult with Mitochondrial Disease. My responsibilities included: Addressing client's medical, emotional and physical needs, acting as a companion and support system to her and her family Administering daily medication and ensuring client's daily living activities were met Assisting client with eating, using the bathroom, personal hygiene, transferring in and out of her chair Assisting with household affairs: cleaning, cooking, paying bills, writing letters/emails, shopping Transporting client to her various appointments throughout the day and managed a weekly calendar I also have experience from caring for a senior family member with brain cancer. I believe that these skills carry well into caregiving roles for seniors, as well as other adults who benefit from assistance. It is important to approach this work with humility to ensure a high level of care which respects individuals' unique needs.a
