Direct support professional for 3 years as a 1 on 1 staff. I helped individuals with disabilities perform everyday tasks. I went to their home and helped them complete their chores, pass them their medication, and also take them out into the community to help them build upon social skills and build meaningful relationships as well as natural supports. Special Olympic basketball Coach and softball for 4 years and helped them learn how to focus on tasks that have overflowed into their personal lives. I was a paraprofessional for 4 years where I worked in the ILABS room with the children that needed extra support and had behaviors where they couldn't communicate their wants and needs. Through that I learned positive behavior supports where I learned how to turn behaviors we perceive as negative and turn them into pro social skills. 3 years: Director of Periodic Services: Train, staff, & oversee 30 individuals with disabilities to make sure they receive services up to Medicaid Standards.
