Direct support professional for 3 years as a 1 on 1 staff. I went to their home and helped them complete their chores, pass them their medication, and also take them out into the community to help them build upon social skills and build meaningful relationships as well as natural supports. I was a Para for 4 years where I worked with students that exhibited challenging behaviors. Through that I learned positive behavior supports where I learned how to turn behaviors we perceive as negative and turn them into pro social skills. 3 years: Director of Periodic Services: Train, staff, & oversee 30 individuals with disabilities to make sure they receive services up to Medicaid Standards. I am currently in Staff Education where I train Direct Support Professionals on how to work with individuals with disabilities. This includes MANDT, CPR/First Aid, Person First Language, Positive Behavioral Supports, Altering Food Textures (IDDSI). I am also able to do ASL.
