As a pet owner all of my life, I know that animals are sentient intelligent beings and I interact with them as such, with respect and empathy. Ive been known to go " beyond the call of duty" once having to walk 1/4 mile in 1. 5 ft deep snow to get to a pet sit, another time I had to climb through the dog door as the pet owner forgot to leave a key. The dogs enjoyed it, jumping on me as I squeezed through! I learned a lot in the early days including- get the key before assignment.
