Alanna has known my 18 year old daughter since birth. My daughter has Down syndrome. Alanna has always approached her with an openness more often reserved for typically developing peers. Alanna cultivates an appropriate and respectful relationship, ensuring my daughter's dignity throughout. Often kindhearted people engage in a patronizing way, but that has never been Alanna. In addition, Alanna has a real interest in connecting with folks who move through the world differently than she does. While in high school, she always participated as a peer partner, giving her the opportunity to experience relationships with a wide variety of folks.
