I have worked with young children for over 5 years and recently was a Teacher at Red Caboose Childcare Center teaching & nurturing children in the 3-year-old classroom. I've cared for children with various special needs and have credentials to teach & care for toddlers & infants. I love to read books, make puzzles & treasure maps & play hide and seek. I value interactive play while also supporting & allowing room for solo play. I'm professional, fun and friendly and most of all, I'm passionate about providing quality individualized care to ALL children. I have my own transportation and often take the children I care for, out for fun activities such as; Gardens, Parks, Art Museums, & always support our wonderful local libraries, especially for story times! Creativity comes naturally to me & I have no problem finding activities to do in & out of the home. I'm passionate about social work and community organizing & in my free time you can find me playing with my 3 pets or writing.

Our family loves Alafia, and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a nanny/child care provider. We first met Alafia when she was one of the teacher's in our older child's preschool classroom. He instantly felt a connection with Alafia and was always excited to see her. Even when he was still feeling shy at school with other teachers, Alafia was always the one he would open up to, and she always had his special stuffie ready to give him hugs if he was feeling sad. Then we lucked out again when our younger kid moved up classrooms and got to be with Alafia, too! After Alafia left that position, we have remained in touch and she has babysat for our kids several times. She is one of the most thoughtful and engaged teachers/providers I have known, and my kids always love spending time with her. She not only has the professional background and training from early childhood education, but also has a calming, loving presence, connects with kids easily-and brings cool art supplies!
