I have been a certified EMT since 2009, with paid work experience on an ambulance since 2010. I have also volunteered at a medical center in the Cardiology Department and also for my personal physician in his office in San Francisco. My experience working with seniors comes mostly from working on the ambulance. Care varied from discharges from hospital to home, to medical and trauma emergencies ranging from altered mental status, 5150 holds, or just unable to walk without help due to accidental falls. Through my work experience, I know the importance of being patient with elderly adults and being able to explain what I am doing medically as a EMT professional. Knowing how to communicate with different age groups is key to being able to work in the medical field.
