About Aki

Hello! My name is Aki. I hold a bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. I believe in holistic problem solving and individualized learning in helping children move through life. I have tutored Pre-K through high-school aged children. Working as a full time tutor/ mentor for City Year AmeriCorps gave me an understanding of what makes a good teacher, allowing me to expand on skills: working with a variety of learning styles and behavioral conflicts, meeting children with where they are with curriculum, exercising clear communication and patience, and implementing engaging lesson plans. Being a good teacher translates into being a good nanny and care-giver in many contexts; children at all ages are constantly learning. I have cared for infants, triplets, and children with hearing impairments, and autism. Each child I have worked with has taught me to be better in my passion; to provide support in their transformation into formidable adults. Thank you for reading!
