I believe in a seven praises to every critique approach to mentorship, and will attempt to motivate discretionary effort in your child. The world is harsh and top performers are expected to self motivate. Dominating or leading someone by the nose is something I won't do, as this sets a false expectation that will lead to disappointment, failure or inferior performance.
