About Abigail

I am a PhD Student in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, and recently moved to New York from Phoenix, AZ. In addition to being a student, I've worked over the past 10 years as a tutor, nanny, swim instructor, teaching artist, summer camp counselor, and high school English teacher. This work really means the world to me, and I've met so many brilliant kids along the way. I love to watch and learn from young people of all ages about how they see and think about the world, and I bring lots of creative energy to the work that I do through art projects, storytelling, and time outdoors in nature. My training as a teacher is in trauma-informed and social justice-focused pedagogy, and I have experience working with students with disabilities, mental health struggles, Autism, and ADHD. I am also happy to care for pets, cook, travel, and do light housework as needed. In between school and work, I love exploring the gardens, forests, and beaches in and around NYC.
