I started caring for seniors when my life turned unexpectedly during the COVID-19 pandemic. It all began with my mom's diagnosis of cancer. The news hit us like a freight train, and suddenly, our lives revolved around chemotherapy sessions, hospital visits, and daily care routines. I had to grow up quickly. Balancing my high school coursework with my newfound responsibilities was no easy task. I learned how to manage medications, prepare meals that suited her changing tastes, and provide the emotional support she so desperately needed. Each day was a new challenge, filled with moments of frustration and unexpected joy whenever I saw her smile. Caring for seniors can be challenging, but it's gratifying. Every hug, thank you, and a small victory in their daily lives feels like a personal accomplishment. I saw my mom in each of them; her strength was mirrored in their perseverance.
