I have been volunterring with the Special Olympics, Easter Seals UCP, Lee County Industries, the Stevens Center in Lee County and several local group homes and head start since I was 13. I have cared for children, teens and adults with a wide range of disabilities including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism. My heart goes out to them and their families. I am an advocate for them and their rights. I treat them with the respect they deserve and know how communicate with them as if they had no disabilities at all. There disability does not define who they are, they deserve to be treated the way other people do.
