My kindergarten son is demonstrating a deficit in the broad area of phonemic awareness. He is inconsistent with providing letter sounds or writing the correct letter when given the sound, despite using movements and visual cues for trays, connecting blocks, colored chips, and graphic organizers for segmenting and blending, and he still struggles. Rhyming has also been a difficult skill for him to master. Spelling CVC words is also difficult, even when given visual boxes for the three letter, letter cards with visual sounds cues, etc.
