Tutor

Tutors are responsible for leading one-on-one or small group lessons that cater to the needs and goals of their students. They often have the following other responsibilities: 1. Reviewing classroom or curricula topics and assignments 2. Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks 3. Working with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom 4. Teaching skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questions 5. Demonstrating academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing tactics 6. Developing and distributing teaching materials to supplement classroom lessons, including study guides 7. Conducting practice tests to track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparation 8. Providing students positive and constructive feedback 9. Offering feedback on progress to students' parents and teachers where appropriate 10. Building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds 11. Instructing students both in person and over video chat 12. Diagnosing student needs through active listening techniques and questioning strategies 13. Recognizing different learning styles and student preferences 14. Designing differentiated learning goals 15. Staying up to date with the school curriculum 16. Driving kids from school to center or center to their home
