My 9-year-old son has something called disruptive mood dysregulation disorder. He took piano lessons for a year and a half but was kicked out of the studio two years ago. He recently expressed an interest in trying music again. Given his behavior problems, I would strongly prefer someone who could come to our house so that I could monitor the situation and coach in how to interact effectively. He needs a teacher who would be patient with him and make the lessons fun, likely at the expense of getting through material rapidly or teaching specific techniques. We have a piano and a guitar, open to renting/buying other instructions. He is incredibly creative and literally a genius. If you can connect with him, it could be AMAZING! It also could be a bust. If you came to our house, we might also try lessons with my neurotypical 5-year-old.
