Hello! My son is 16 and on his third try for Algebra. He generally "gets it" until they get to quadratic equations and then is just lost. I cannot explain it in a way he understands and obviously school isn't any better. He's a smart kid, but very easily discouraged with this subject and gives up when he doesn't think he's going to get it.
