I'm looking for people to work with my young adult son (age 20) who has autism and is home-educated due to chronic illness. Job description below. Pay is competitive for the right person.
The therapist will provide learning and recreational activities as part of a home education program for a young adult with autism and medical complexity, located in Canton. Instruction will be delivered using materials provided by an educational consultant, that will support academic skills, receptive and expressive language, as well as self-regulation, motor skills, and sensory integration. Supervision, curriculum, and support will be provided through consultation and direct training with the parent, a special educator, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other consultants. Prefer candidates with some educational or therapeutic training (ABA, special education, OT, SLT). Must be willing to build a relationship with the student and family, as well as the team. Flexible and welcoming environment. Must be an independent self-starter with good communication skills who is willing to learn and be flexible. No medical skills are needed. Reliability, patience, and empathy are required. Pay is competitive.
Hours and Schedule:
The schedule may be flexible with the goal of 2-4 sessions per week lasting 2-5 hours for each session.
Prior Experience and Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates interested in special education, speech/language, or occupational therapy.
Prior experience is preferable.
A reliable, motivated person willing to work in a collaborative environment. You must be compassionate and flexible.
Must have transportation and a valid driver's license.
Some education in a related field of study.
