Looking for a care giver for my autistic son *Hours would be between Friday 11-3 Tuesday 11-3 I need someone on Fridays but I can trade Tuesday for another day . Also, can be a little flexible with times . Just has to be between hours of 8:30am-3:00 p.m. *Possibility of more hours in the future if wanted *Pay is through the state so a W2 is required . *Must be 18 or older and have a checking acct for direct deposited paychecks *Current pay rate is $12 an hour . My case manager said they plan to increase to $20 an hour in July/August , but I can't promise that for sure. * Fingerprinting and a TB test required (I'll cover the cost and the case manager helps arrange it ) **Job description ** You will take N fun places in the community . You need to be in decent physical health because he may run off . Activities may include the park , bike rides , nature walks , splash pads or swimming , going to restaurants, museums etc. We also need someone will to learn to use his AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) to communicate with him. **About N ** N is a 12-year-old nonspeaking individual with autism and apraxia . N is cognitively normal but cannot control his muscles / body so he cannot speak reliably and often does impulsive things due to his lack of control . He uses a letterboard or iPad to communicate but this takes practice with a new person. N has a happy , bubbly personality . He can be hyper but is also able to sit and be calm with some support. He is never violent and rarely outwardly angry . He is able to use the restroom independently . He will wander away so you have to stay right with him when out . We are training a service dog to help with this but it'll be several months before that's completed. *Need to be able to commit to at least 6 months with us . It's a process and costs us money to hire new people . It's also discouraging to N if he bonds to someone new and then they disappear out of his life abruptly. So please consider any future commitments that might interfere with your ability to work with N in the near future before committing to us. **Perks ** Get paid to hang out with a cool kid and add disability services provider to your resume. We are currently training a golden doodle to be a service dog . It will be 6 months or so before he's ready .
