About who needs care: My Mom has had 5 strokes that have affected her ability to do things like showering and really taking care of her own personal hygiene. My daughter and I are currently the only ones that are able to help her shower because she doesnt feel comfortable with anyone else so we are looking for a friendly younger female that is great with older people who are a bit stubborn about showering. She needs to be nicely told its shower time and then help her into the bathroom and help her get undressed, turn on the water for her and make sure the temp is good and then help her get into the shower, she has a shower chair and can clean herself on her own. The caregiver will need to stay close in case she needs anything but she will tell them when shes done and then they will turn off the water and give her towels so she can get dried off but then she needs help getting out of the shower safely and with getting dressed. She isnt very talkative these days and because of the strokes she often thinks she can do things on her own and then usually ends up falling and hurting herself so Im just really looking for someone that can help a couple days a week with that and making sure she has something to eat before they leave. Shes not really able to fix herself food so she often eats muffins or something that she can grab and take to her chair. She walks with a walker and isnt really sturdy enough to not have it at all times. She lives with my 85 year old dad and my 22yr old son and his best friend who are there to help both of my parents with anything they can but they both work full time and arent usually there during the day so I would like to have someone that can go and check on her during the day for those 2 days and report to me if anything sends off with her. She wears depends and isnt the best at getting herself clean after a bowl movement so her getting showers regularly is very important. I just got a new job and unfortunately work more then with my previous job and Im in ft collins for work several times a week for work and my daughter is 18 and just got a job with the hospital as a cna so Im just really in need of someone to help with my sweet Mom. Shes very precious to me and I want to see her start to thrive again after her strokes but because she doesnt get cleaned well currently as often as she needs to she keeps getting uti infections and they make her very delirious and confused when she has an infection. Unfortunately she doesnt have any symptoms of a uti so I just have to go on how shes acting and what kind of things shes saying to me to be able to tell when she needs to go to the dr for a uti. Its been a lot to take on for sure and currently Im her main caregiver even though I dont love with them. She does have another caregiver from synergy that goes out on Tuesdays and Thursdays and does some cleaning and meal prepping for them but shes older so my mom doesnt feel comfortable asking her for help in the shower because she worries if she falls or something that she would hurt her older caregiver. Both of my parents do smoke so we would need someone that would be ok going into their home with the smoking. Im praying that there is someone who is willing to help because Im lost on how to get her the help she desperately needs with hygiene and because she can still walk ok enough, she doesnt qualify to get help with a nursing home and my dad refuses to move as they built that house 40 yrs ago and its just where he wants to be so they cant currently afford a nursing or assisted living home for my mom.
