About the job
About who needs care: He has dementia. Saturday he was sent to ER because he hit several people. Wanted some one here 24 hours. I did it since Saturday. They are now telling me they need someone to be here from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. They want someone other than me so he can get used to their staff. He has never hit me. He has grabbed my wrists. I back away when he gets like that. He needs lots of help doing everyday things like dressing, charging depends but the aides here do that. They want someone to keep him from wandering the halls and going in other people's rooms. I haven't had any problem doing that. But, I'm the wife. About the care needs: Need someone who has been around people with dementia. Know to not argue with them. Distract with changing the subject. Agree with them even though you haven't a clue what they are talking about. He worked as a computer systems analyst . Retired in 1999. Had 3 weiner dogs that he loved. Services needed include: companionship.
