About who needs care: Diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension. Often feels lightheaded when standing and increasingly resistant to getting around the house because of this. Husband of 64 years passed away unexpectedly about 7 months ago. Likes to play games such as rummikub, Mexican train, scrabble, cards and enjoys putting together puzzles. Ideal day: wake up, wash up, have breakfast and coffee, watch morning talk shows and game shows, read, crochet, have lunch. Used to ride her strider bike 30 minutes a day, but recently reluctant to do so, walk down the driveway to get the mail. Drive to town to pick up groceries once in a while. Drive to church on Sundays and then to her daughter's house to spend the afternoon. In good weather she likes to walk around the yard to look at the flowers, and sit on the front porch to read and interact with neighbors. Only in the past 2 to 3 weeks her lightheadedness has gotten more frequent. She has been in the hospital 2 times in the past week and a half. Mainly because she felt unable to get to the bathroom/get food due to her condition. About the care needs: Patient and encouraging. Like to play board games and socialize. My mom is very lonely since my dad passed. My sister lives 25 minutes away but is still working. I live in Florida, and I am retired, but my family lives down here with me.
