About who needs care: My grandmother has Alzheimer's dementia, currently walking with reduced balance, COPD, asthma, and osteoarthritis. Her main hobby was cooking, however, is unable to due to reduced safety awareness. She had 7 children and 17 grandchildren so her hobbies were always spending time with her family. She is unable to read her current cognitive state. Four days a week she gets transportation to a senior center and she participates in the music, events and senior activities that are specific to memory care. In the evenings, her children/grandchildren get her off transportation spend time with her, provide her a meal, change her clothes and leave her alone overnight, until her caregiver comes in the morning to get her ready for the senior center. On her days off from the center, her family completes ADLs with her twice a day. About the care needs: Her first language is Spanish, she speaks both English and Spanish, but as her dementia settles in, she speaks a mixture at times. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
