About who needs care: Mom likes to chat, play Scrabble, sit outside. I usually get her up around 9:00 a.m. and get her ready for bed around 7:00 p.m. She used to take baths on Fridays but hasn't wanted to for about a month. I wash her hair on Saturday evenings and set it in pin curls. She doesn't leave her room very often, just to get something to eat and use the bathroom. Shes forgetting to take her meds more often, she is becoming weaker (needing help to get out of bed), and sleeps more often. I think her ideal day would be to get up around 9:00 AM, get dressed, have someone make her breakfast and chat with her while she eats. Then at some point in the day take her outside to sit on the deck, maybe help her walk around the yard. Then in the evening help her wash up and get ready for bed. About the care needs: We've tried home care before and mom was very uncomfortable with the turnover of caregivers. Shes modest and doesn't like strangers to bathe her but gets used to it if it is the same person each time. Someone with a gentle touch and quick wit would be a good fit. She doesn't want to be bossed around, but also needs coaching or she forgets what shes doing. No special skills or hobbies/interests needed. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
