About who needs care: My dad has mid-stage Alzheimers and currently lives alone with his dog, Buster. (English Setter) His hobbies include fishing, hunting, gardening, and taking care of his property (mowing the field, chopping wood, trimming bushes, etc.) He also enjoys reading the newspaper and Alaska magazine. His ideal day would be: Wake up between 6-7am, let Buster out Take a shower Make coffee and a bowl of oatmeal Get the paper and read it Go outside and do chores (spring-fall) or get fire wood (winter) Take Buster for a walk on the property Nap Light lunch Check the mail Go to Yokes to get something for dinner from the deli Eat dinner at home Let Buster out and walk down to close the gate Early to bed (6 p.m. in fall/winter, 7 p.m. spring/summer) About the care needs: I would be looking for a kind, patient caregiver who has a decent sense of humor. Preferably the person would have some experience working with people who have dementia or Alzheimers disease. It would be helpful if the caregiver had some gardening knowledge and enjoyed being outdoors. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
