About who needs care: Looking for someone four hours per day from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Client is verbal, but in a wheelchair with limited mobility. He can physically help with transitions, but loses his balance easily. His communication can be difficult to understand and we need someone who speaks proficient English. Having a light accent is fine, but he would struggle to understand someone with a heavy accent. He currently lives in an adult family care home and we just need someone to add more activity to his life, including going to the local gym to ride a stationary bike (etc.) going to parks, bowling (he uses adaptive devices), beach walk, zoo, etc. This window of time would also possibly include being at the home playing games or doing crafts. He loves anything artistic. The hours are scheduled between his feedings (he has a GI tube) which is done by the AFC provider. One challenge is the issue of incontinence. Most of the time, he is on a predictable schedule with the feedings, but accidents can sometimes happen and we need someone who can handle the situation if it arises. About the care needs: Somebody with a good sense of humor, must be outgoing/talkative and able to carry on a conversation. Services needed include: transportation, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
