About who needs care: My father recently fell and broke his left arm near his shoulder and is currently living in assisted care as he's unable to do basic tasks of getting dressed, bathing, and has mobility fairly limited. The prognosis on the arm is that it will need 8 weeks to fully heal and he will need support several times a week to get dressed, take a shower. My mother is there to help take care of him on some tasks, but she is also 77 and cannot physically move or support his body weight to assist in getting dressed, etc. My father also needs support getting to and from medical appointments that will be planned in advance but not recurring regularly each week. They live in a single floor home but there are a few stairs around the deck and front entrance. One large step in the garage. My Mom does not feel comfortable leaving my Dad alone to do grocery shopping so some arrangement can be made where the support is to do the shopping, or stay with my Dad during that time. My Dad just beat bladder cancer but we have just recently found out that he has prostate cancer. The prostate cancer is a new diagnosis, we don't know what will be done from a treatment standpoint yet or how many additional appointments he will need support going to/from. Primary doctor facilities are in Port Townsend, or Poulsbo (Fred Hutch location) or Silverdale for additional doctors. About the care needs: Would need to be comfortable with pets there is one cat and about 7 parakeets but they remain in their cage all the time.. My Dad is originally from Denmark, likes to garden and take care of animals. He is an avid bird lover and enjoys nature. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
