About who needs care: Widowed 4 months ago. Not in the best of physical health. Has had 2 heart attacks in the past (probably 10 to 15 years ago and has 3 stents). Functioning alcoholic. Has been having slight memory problems as well as potential hearing issues. Loss of balance and has fallen twice in the last 2 weeks. Enjoys watching football and playing cards. Normally isn't out of bed till 10 or 11, but has trouble falling asleep and will mostly sleep in the arm chair downstairs. Once he's out of bed he'll have some coffee and maybe eat a small breakfast. Then he'll either go run some errands or sit in his chair for the rest of the day. Sometimes he'll go into the other room and take care of bills or other things on the computer. He needs to do more physical activity, potentially small walks as well as some upper body so he can pick himself up if he falls down. About the care needs: Someone who is patient and kind and will help push him to walk. Someone who can help get him up if he falls down (one of the main reasons my sister and I want someone to check in on him every day). He doesn't need assistance with household chores yet, but someone who he can talk to and feel comfortable with. I believe he will be feeling the waves of grief so there may be many days when he's feeling up and down. If they like playing cards that would be good. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
