About who needs care: Limited mobility, always uses her walker. Mom needs help preparing her evening meal. She is very slow when walking, but wants to continue as long as possible. She has some dementia (may not be immediately recognizable), enjoys chatting once acquainted. Is well-read, continues to read the paper and watches lots of TV, including news programs. Sees poorly, some loss of vision. Former care-giver/friend has been injured so can't continue. About the care needs: Positive outlook, cheerful, empathetic and used to dealing with the elderly, willing to get acquainted, as she will be providing one of Mom's main "social outlets". Mom looks younger than she is, but she's 97, and old (i. e. physically weak and needs assistance, though she's trying to be independent). Some mild dementia as well, but it may not be readily visible. Mom may need increased help over time, possibly with bathing, etc. at some point. There are family members who are also assisting Mom. It will be great if they are on a good wavelength! Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
