About who needs care: Ron is in heart failure, but is pretty cognizant. Short term memory is challenging since his heart attack, but he is not a safety risk in terms of forgetting his physical limitations. He was a medic in the navy and is a retired RN. Due to his heart condition (12% function) he is tired quite a lot and likes to nap. He is also social, but fatigues quickly. His R leg cannot bear weight at this time and we're unsure why. He needs help with transfers from his motorized wheelchair to bed and vise-versa. He needs help with bathing and dressing. He feeds himself and knows what he likes. He has a small appetite, loves sweets. About the care needs: Someone who speaks English easily. He has difficulty comprehending when someone has a heavy accent. In part this is due to receptive language being challenging at times for him, having had a stroke two years ago. He is not afraid to ask for repetition until he understands. He likes to laugh, although now he's somewhat depressed and gets anxious about what's next for him. Someone who is supportive and encouraging and has a light sense of humor. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
