About who needs care: My mom, Mary is 80 years old. She has diabetes and arthritis. She has experienced some cognitive decline this year but it has not been significant. She is still currently driving and up until her recent surgery to have a Hiatal hernia repaired was living alone and independently. My wife and I have been providing 24/7 care for her the last two weeks while she heals from the surgery but that will be ending soon as she is almost healed. Mary enjoys taking care of her grand daughter and is involved with taking her to appointments and school events. She is very social and belongs to a book club, cooking club, and often has lunch with friend's. Mary has a cat named Tucker. My mom is slowing down and not able as she once was. We feel like she would benefit from having someone at the house a couple days a week. We are not exactly sure what that would look like but we where thinking of having someone check-in with her, socialize, and do so light cleaning 4-6 hours a day, 2 days a week. We are flexible. We also think having someone in the home now would also help her to prepare for when she needs more intensive support as she ages. About the care needs: My mom is very social and likes to talk and read. Sowing, cooking, reading, spending time with her youngest grand daughter, and socializing Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
