About who needs care: My mother likely has stage 4 dementia. We are getting a proper diagnosis in the coming month. She is a wonderful woman with an amazing past. Her love for her family is massive, and her family loves her incredibly so. She is currently living with her husband who is her primary caregiver. They spend their time mostly at home as her ability to move around is diminished. And unfortunately, her abilities are declining at an alarming rate. Thus, we need more help and in an increasing fashion. An ideal day would probably be best understood by a professional caregiver with experience in this area. But for our current needs, we are looking for overnight care to lessen the load on her husband. About the care needs: We need a kind, but strong individual who can deftly navigate the direction of her and her needs alongside managing expectations with her husband. They are both excellent people who are loved by many, but as with many elders, they are set in their ways. This is where being able to navigate challenges and help set direction and clarify needs to her primary caregiver would be helpful. I imagine, this is pretty standard stuff in the caregiving world. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
