Seeking Part-time Senior Care Provider In Virginia Beach

About who needs care: My husband is a spinal cord injury patient who is a quadriplegic. We are looking for someone on Saturdays and prn basis, fill in as needed. We have a regular person, but need fill in help on days she is not able to come in. The position would consist of feeding, suctioning-has a trach , but he communicates very well, able to use ceiling lift to transfer from motorized wheelchair to bed, gets catheterized q3hrs- I can help with that. I was an Urology nurse for 32 years, but run a full time business- work from home. I am out of the home some evenings. If interested you would be hired by us through the VA program we use and would have to pass a background check, which takes 2-3 weeks to get onboarded. Of course an interview with patient and wife to see if the fit is right. The VA agency pays bi- weekly, we agree to pay $20/hr for care. Shift are usually 4-5 hrs. About the care needs: We would like a person who is bubbly and likes to laugh! Someone that is slightly older, has compassionate personality. Someone skilled in current medical profession or has had CNA, MA experience, or hospice care experience. Lite housekeeping- do up his laundry and dishes, feeding dinner in the evening or snacks. We do have a nurse during the day, 10 hrs/day 7 days a week. Specialized skills already mentioned. Husband is ex- military, so has a military mindset and quite the personality! Must be neat and tidy as you work in our home and our home is very clean!! Must like cats! We have 6 indoor only fur babies, and yes our home in still very clean- wife is a little OCD about the home! lol! Again must clear background check through our VA program. They pay you, but we are the employer. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
