About who needs care: The client is in Stuart, she is pretty young, in her late 50's. She is paralyzed from the waist down. So we provide help with all her daily activities.. we do a bed bath every other day, wash her hair once a week, we make sure she takes her meds, she usually only eats once a day a lot of times sometimes twice & it's always something super easy. Some days she won't eat anything on your shift. Light housework, jus keep her room clean, and whatever dishes you use for the day, and we wash about 1 load of laundry a week. We have a lift for the days she gets out of bed, right now she is staying in bed because we are trying to heal a pressure wound. She is able to help turn on side and able to hold herself over in the bed, she does well with her arms and hands. Other than that you pretty much just talk and keep her company. We are paid every 2 weeks from consumer direct care, $13. 61/hour. the days and hours are very flexible, I am the other caregiver so we would sit down and figure out the schedule together. **Also some of those duties I listed are in general as a whole between the 2 of us, for example, there will be weeks that you may end up doing Most of the baths or her hair and other weeks you wouldn't do any of them, we will work together and do what we can, if something doesn't get done we will get it when we can **also We've had issues with people not being dependable, this is a must. she is only approved for 2 caregivers & is alone through the night, doesn't have any family much so if the person doesn't show up she has no one. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
