About who needs care: Patient was recently very independent required minimal care. Two weeks ago suffered a stroke and was in ketoacidosis. The stroke did not cause paralysis however memory was affected. The ketoacidosis damaged his heart and only has 15% function on left side. Due to the disability he was born with he is not a candidate for any treatment at this time. He is sleeping 20 hours a day. And is a diabetic and requires insulin shots using a pin. Must know how to administer insulin on a sliding scale. About the care needs: Patient is able to communicate. He likes rock music or any music from 50s 60s 70s and up. He is college educated was an artist and worked locally. Caregiver must be able to adhere to a diabetic diet with patient. Caregiver must also know how to administer insulin on a sliding scale using the pen. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
