About the job
My mother is a 91-year-old dementia, and COPD patient. She needs companionship and assistance in the afternoons and evenings after dinner. We recently placed her under hospice care due to an apparent stroke and reduced mobility. She needs someone nearby when she's active, in the bathroom, undressing, taking medications, and for personal care and cleaning up and getting ready for bed as well. My wife and I and our pets live in the house and prepare her dinner and eat with her. She has similar daytime care, but her recent changes lead us to want additional support for her, perhaps 3-5 hours most nights and until she's in bed and Sunday morning help.
