I am the primary caregiver for my dad who is 86 and has Alzheimer's. He lives with me. And I am looking for supplemental help in caring for him. He is a retired ER doctor who has been very intelligent, hard-working, and a delight to be around all his life. Even as the disease progresses these traits have been a great benefit. On some level he understands that physical, social, and intellectual engagement will help him maintain his mobility and cognitive function. Dad has used a walker since he broke his ankle in 2017 and needs help with tasks of daily living. Typically he gets up at 11:30 and goes to bed at 6; 30. M, T, and Th we have an aide from the county who gets Dad up and gives him a shower. Those days I am looking for someone to prepare him a meal, help him with his medicine, and exercises. Wednesday we participate in a choir for people with memory loss and their care partners. I need someone to help me get him up, get in the car, and get in and out of the rehearsal. Friday I need someone to get Dad up, help him get dressed, fed, take medicine, and do exercises. Everyone who has cared for Dad adores him. Several have offered to write reference letters for HIM. We are looking for someone who enjoys encouraging interaction. We don't necessarily need the same person to cover all these shifts. If any or all of it sounds interesting, please let me know. And we can talk to discuss details. Thank you for your consideration.
