About who needs care: My grandfather is suffering from mobility issues and memory issues. My grandmother is his full time caregiver and it is wearing her down. He has trouble standing, walking, and balancing. Some days are worse than others. He has no drive for taking care of himself in any way. He only gets out of his chair to go to the bathroom or sit on the porch. He can still feed himself when food is prepared for him. A great help would be for my grandmother to be able to rest while someone looks after him and keeps him from falling. He used to love, camping, cooking, and being outside in the garden. I think he could get back to being outside more if someone were there to motivate him to exercise and get some strength back. My grandfather sleeps a lot during the day and is up at night. That means my grandmother is hardly ever resting. They are both so loving and sweet! I know extra care would change the way life is going for them right now. About the care needs: Someone who can be straightforward but also kind. This caregiver needs to be able to cook, drive, and be attentive to my grandfather while my grandmother gets rest. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
