About who needs care: My husband has early-onset Alzheimer's. He sometimes has trouble finding words or using nouns in sentences. Otherwise, he is healthy, fit, and active. He is friendly and enjoys talking to people despite the difficulties. The ideal caregiver would be someone who could bike or run or walk with him (or go to the rec center and lift weights or play table tennis or pickleball). I can do most of these things with him but am working part-time and need uninterrupted time and respite.
About the care needs: A lively, empathetic, and patient personality who could be a companion (does not have to be a man, but that might be easier to explain as someone looking for a buddy to go biking, hiking, etc. -- my husband does not remember he has Alzheimer's and is devastated each time he learns it, so we don't talk about it)
Ideally, someone who has experience with people with dementia
Interest/experience in biking, hiking, running, or racket sports
Services needed include: companionship.
