About who needs care: teleworks, movement disorder, veteran, needs help for everything, can walk and do stairs, needs help when "stuck" and bathing and with daily laundry, making up the bed, can come downstairs for meals, sometimes needs meals or snacks upstairs, needs good listener, patient, help setting up exercises via online youtube channel more About the care needs: Looking for good person who is calm, kind, strong, patient, intuitive, empowering, observant, good timekeeper, regular meals, healthy snacks, beverages to promote regularity, someone who allows him to do what he can when he can, giving him the time to do it. He can nuke his own burritos when there is time... enjoys positive feedback and I just want to have someone in the house I can contact and help him while I am out of town should he fall or get stuck... he needs an early bedtime and he does well when there is a calm, attentive and centered person there when needed...(like me! :-) ).. best to leave lots of silent periods as spouse gets energy from calm energy and long quiet periods not too talkative as this makes it harder for spouse to move... He does like to engage in conversation from time to time and when he is not trying to focus on his job, trying to get himself moving and dealing with this fairly recent disability. Spouse is a good, calm, kind person, great listener. Best to leave long pauses for him to respond... Initially looking for short term, possibly 2 weeks, and thereafter possible long term as our long term life plans take shape with this big change in both our lives, ongoing changes in his movement abilities, some for the better. Specific Exercises he can do when given the Youtube channel and some help with cueing up the exercises mornings, and late afternoon whenever possible... all are key to his overall well being and helps him to feel better, too. Eventually looking for a long term caregiver as we see how his movement disorder unfolds and where it takes us both. Services needed include: transportation, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
