About who needs care: She had reconstructive surgery with screws and plates put in on her shoulder and her tibia below her knee. She is still guarding the pain in her knee which is hindering her progress in her pt and walking. She is not fully ambulatory to use the toilet on her own like she should be and to be honest she has been lazy at the rehab on some days about getting up. I believe she can do better on her own with the standing walker which she has used and can utilize. She was free of the cath but is back on it and currently takes 2 people to aid her to the bathroom. My husband and I both work full time time. Her days would be arranged around her simply doing therapy and getting HER mobility and independence back About the care needs: Patience, upbeat, someone who likes to talk, and doesn't mind someone else who talks ALOT about everything and nothing. Interests: grandchildren, children, horses, farms, rodeos, girl scouts, anything. Special skills: engaging her to move; at this point. She had to move to our home from San Antonio after being assaulted by her live in boyfriend of 30 years grown son who is 58. He shoved her to the ground, the son, not the bf. But now we have had to remove her from that situation, so she has lost the home she had know for over 30 years and the bf. She feels lost and needs direction, just to give you a little background. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
