About who needs care: My mother has dementia. Her hobbies are watching movies on her iPad and playing games on her phone. Outside of that she likes walking and light exercise. As she loves eating and trying new foods, particularly island foods like fish in Caribbean related foods. Her ideal day would be structured as waking up, doing like exercise, eating something healthy, doing an activity, having some companionship with her to work on something that helps her memory, then relaxing, then having someone there with her from the afternoon to evening, and if she can eat a great meal, that tastes really good in the evening that would help. And then she would relax by herself and go to bed on time so she can get her sleep. About the care needs: The type of personality that would be a good fit is someone who is probably around her age, maybe in their 50s or 60s as well because she wants to be able to socialize with someone similar to her, for special skills we would need someone who is patient with her, works with integrity, is able to drive safely, is able to possibly cook very tasty food if needed as my mother is very very picky, is not very forceful with her, loves playing games or doing fun activities. If they are able to help her dress well, Make sure she maintains hygiene, and accommodates her personality that is a plus. Someone who can keep her active and inspired about life and have her do fun activities while she is not in a bad state of dementia yet would also be helpful. But most importantly, we just need someone there with her for extra coverage as we already have one Caretaker. If this person can cover the extra time we are not able to be around and some of the things that we are lacking above, that would be great. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
